Sun Sailing Team
THE SEA IS OUR HORIZON, THE WIND IS OUR STATEGY
Due to the success of Portugal Match Cup in our country over the last seven years, the development of the practice of Match Racing has increased, which led Grupo Sá Machado, with the support of Marina de Portimão to create Portimão Sun Sailing Team Academy.
Portimão Sun Sailing Team Academy is a sailing academy, at a match race level, that offers both national and international sailors the opportunity to practise throughout the year in the bay of Portimão's port.
We also develop incentives and, indoor and outdoor training courses for companies.
Sailing is a different and most effective way of team building. Our training sessions encourage personal and group development through outdoor activities.
Portimão Sun Sailing Team Academy has a fleet of six boats class SM40, created by the legendary designer Pelle Peterson, who designed and commanded the swedish boat "Sveridge", the America's Cup challenger from 1977 to 1980.

VSPARS
VSPARS is a NZ based company which has developed a range of unique deck-mounted sail and rig vision systems for automatically determining sail shape.
The VSPARS system is simple and robust - it can be operated by the navigator or tactician in real time without distraction. Self-contained camera units are connected by single USB cables to a standard
laptop. Each camera is individually calibrated to remove distortion from the ultra-wide angle lenses. Sail shape information is displayed in real time, allowing trim optimisation using historical
targets. Full 3D coordinates of the sail and rig deflection are saved along with data from the boat's instrumentation system. Analysis onshore is easy, with a powerful database to select the exact
conditions required. IGES surfaces can easily be created for running through CFD codes. Other products include a small boat system suitable for Olympic classes and a stand-alone analysis tool. VSPARS
systems are in use on everything from Star boats to Volvo 70s.
